Chikku Bukku has finally reached the screens today. The film directed by Manikandan is a romcom travelogue. This is said to be different love story film with new concept. By not taking much time let’s take a brisk glance at the story.
Chikku Bukku Story
The film begins in Karaikudi of 1985 and then jumps to London of 2010. Arjun (Arya) lives with his grandmother and is admired DJ who likes to go after girls and will be found busy updating his facebook. Arjun, who enjoys his life at the peak, was asked by his grand mother to pay a visit to his inherited place Karaikudi and get back his ancestral properties.
Arjun starts his journey from London to Karaikudi. On his way to Karaikudi Arjun meets Anu (Shriya) who is studying MBA and a modern girl at Bangalore Airport. Both of them will miss their flight to Madurai. And they start their journey in a train by claiming as wife husband for train ticket.
Arjun while in train finds a diary in his bag written by his father. This dairy reveals the love story of his father shekhar (Arya) in Karaikudi. Shekar falls in love with Meenal (Preetika) daughter of school principle. Shekhar’ love was opposed by his family as the caste is the main barrier. Arjun (Arya) falls in love with Anu in his jouney.The film speaks about the love of both Father and son. By moving forward the film reveals on How Arya gets Anu in his life along with his ancestral assets will part the remaining film?
Highlights:
Arya has succeeded in portraying dual role for the first time. His dialogue delivery is very unique if observed. No doubt that he added much more smartness to the film.
Shriya Saran playing the role of a glam doll was seen with curly hair and bubbly looks was a perfect fit for the role of Anu.
Preetika Rao seen in traditional outfits was decent, and her expressions and body language was really great this being her first outing.
Santhanam who made his presence in few scenes has bursted with hilarious comedy limitedly.
Both Shekar and ‘stylish’ Arjun have with equal importance for their respective roles.
Director Manikandan has done his best but in some scenes the continuity is missing.
R. B.Gurudhev Cinematography is good but on the editing part is very much unfinished and could have been much better.
Music scored by Colonial Cousins (Hariharan-Leslie Lewis) is an added essence for the film.
