Even though the highly-anticipated Indonesian martial-art action flick THE RAID is yet showing in theaters other than film festival last year, the producers are already gearing fast on track for a sequel treatment. The production is set to take place towards the end of this year in Jakarta with Iko Uwais returning to lead the cast and Gareth Evans back on the director's seat as well. It is also reported that the sequel will be tentatively titled as BERANDAL for the Indonesian movie market and will have a "significantly larger" budget than the original.
As of now, plot details regarding about the sequel is remained sketchy while the shooting is expected to take 100 days.
Sony Pictures Classics has already bought the rights for THE RAID and set to release in the United States on March 23. On the other hand, Screen Gems is looking to develop an English-language remake.
